40+ places to find ASHA CEUs

Speech-language pathologists, here’s a list of 40+ places to find ASHA CEUs. I’ve included general information about cost, location, time-frame, format, and other helpful information.

The list includes ASHA CEU providers who’ve registered their courses with ASHA. I’ve excluded local continuing education opportunities, other than large conferences.

Free DIRECT download:  40+ ASHA CEU providers (cheat sheet). (Email subscribers get free access to all the resources in the Free Subscription Library.)

Outline:

Invest 3% of your income in self-development

I heard Brian Tracy say that successful professionals invest 3% of their net income in their own development. I’m no good at math, but I guestimate that a person grossing $50,000 may bring home $35,000. And 3% of that is $1050.

That’s a fair bit of money to invest in yourself every year!

Investing money in your continuing education offers several benefits. Besides the mandatory minimum to maintain your CCCs and your license, you can:

  • Gain information, resources, and skills to make your job easier.
  • Learn methods to improve outcomes for your patients.
  • Advance your skills, so that you’re not simply treading water as the years pass.
  • Increase your value to employers.

However much time and money you invest in yourself, it’s important to be mindful in the courses you choose.

Choose your courses mindfully

Consider the following:

  • Which areas do you feel weaker in?
  • What types of impairments do you frequently run into?
  • Which topics are most interesting to you?
  • What would make your job easier, if you learned more about it?

You can also check out ASHA’s specific strategies to choosing and evaluating CE courses, which I won’t summarize here.

Suffice it to say that just because a course is ASHA-registered does not mean that it’s a good course.

ASHA doesn’t officially endorse the content of CE courses. So use your critical evaluation skills!

Other ways you can find ASHA CEUs

  • Use ASHA CEFind to search thousands of courses.
  • Check out your state’s speech-language-hearing association.
  • Consider taking a certification or training program, such as LSVT LOUD, MDTP, FEES training, etc.

You’re not limited to ASHA-registered courses. You can also participate in other professional development activities that count towards maintaining your CCCs.

If you complete enough ASHA CEUs, you can earn the ACE Award.

The ACE Award

The Award for Continuing Education (ACE) is ASHA’s way of recognizing clinicians who “demonstrate their commitment to lifelong learning.”

In order to qualify for an ACE Award, you have to satisfy the following:

  • Be an ASHA member and/or have the CCCs.
  • Use ASHA’s CE Registry.
  • Earn 7.0 ASHA CEUs in a 36-month period.

You automatically earn the award when you quality. Recognition includes:

  • Your name on ASHA’s website.
  • ASHA notifies your state association.
  • You receive documentation you can share with your employer.
  • You’re eligible for a 10% discount with Mercer professional liability insurance.
  • And you can purchase a certificate to display.

Thank you for compiling this amazing list!! I recently came across SLP Nerdcast with the option to receive CEU certificates for $6. They have a few free options, and I’m really looking forward to listening to all their other episodes!

    • Thanks, Esther, and you’re welcome! Thanks for sharing the SLP Nerdcast!

For others reading this, it looks like it’s primarily pediatric-focused. But podcasts are a great way to earn CEUs, so anyone who works with this population may want to check them out.

  3. SATPAC Speech is an ASHA CEU provider and has a free 3 hour webinar: /r/ and /s/ Remediation Using the SATPAC Approach or a 5 hour webinar: The SATPAC Approach: An Effective and Efficient Way to Remediate Speech Sounds.

    • I made a typo: The SATPAC Approach: An Effective and Efficient Way to Remediate Speech Sounds is a 6 hour webinar. Note that the 3 hour webinar is taken from the 6 hour webinar so you can take one or the other but not both.
